Parent/Student Notification Systems

followWhat are the best methods for me to receive timely WSD notifications?

Currently, the preferred methods for getting WSD notifications are to visit the main web site, as well as your school web site. Other options include checking our district Twitter account or Facebook page. Please keep in mind that our Facebook page is not monitored 24/7, so any messages you send may not be responded to immediately.

We also offer the ability to sign up for email and text alerts. However, due to the volume of message that are being sent out, these two options are not as timely.

WSD Notifier - Parents

Weber School District uses several methods to communicate important and timely messages to parents. These methods include email, text messaging, district websites and social media. This guide will explain how to receive and/or view any messages sent via the WSD Notification system. Parents are encouraged to follow any or all of the following methods to ensure timely notification.

Email Notifications

To receive email notifications, a parent must be registered at If you are already registered and need to change the email address that receives WSD Notification messages, you can change it by clicking on “Preferences” from the top menu.

Note: Each parent must have their own MyWeber account to receive WSD Notification messages via email and text.

Text Message Notifications*

To receive text message notifications on your mobile phone, you must have your cell phone number listed in your MyWeber account. To check your current listed contact information or to update your mobile number login at and select “Preferences” from the top menu.

Twitter Notifications*

You do not need to have a Twitter account to follow and receive text messages sent from the WSD Notification Twitter account. Do the following to receive WSD Notification tweets as text messages on your mobile device:

On Wednesday March 2, 2016, Weber School District partnered with the Weber County Sheriff's Office, Pleasant View Police Department, Roy City Police Department, and the Utah Highway Patrol to conduct the largest safety drill in the district to date. The three-staged lockdown, evacuation, and reunification exercise was conducted at Kanesville Elementary in West Haven.

Gone are the days when the only drills teachers and administration needed to worry about involved earthquakes and fire. As a district we must now be prepared to protect the safety of our students in a variety of situations. Weber School District is committed to being prepared to protect, evacuate, and reunite the children with their parents and loved ones in the event of a natural disaster or tragedy.

Principal Scott Zellmer initiated discussion of drill that would involve transporting students from the school. Unlike most other schools in the District, Kanesville has the distinction of being geographically located in an area without surrounding schools, parks, or other public spaces that are suitable for an evacuation of this magnitude. In preparation for the drill, the Weber County Sheriff's Office suggested use of the Weber County Fairgrounds as an evacuation site due to its relatively close approximation to Kanesville and the fact that its layout was easily secured by law enforcement.

Lockdown, evacuation, and reunification drills have all been conducted separately prior to Wednesday's drill, but this was the first time the District has conducted all three drills concurrently. Planning for the drill was a months-long process that required a small army of volunteers and cooperation with multiple agencies. The day began at 9:00 with teachers receiving the signal to begin the lockdown with “locks, lights, out of sight”. Classrooms were individually cleared by law enforcement and children were escorted onto waiting buses, walking hand-in-hand. Streets along the evacuation route were closed to traffic, and a police escort accompanied the buses to the Fairgrounds where the children were taken into the Exhibit Hall. Parents were notified via email and text of their student's location and given the “all clear” to begin arriving at the Fairgrounds for reunification. Upon arrival, parents filled out information cards and were asked to present their identification. Once checked in, they were sent to a waiting area until their children were brought to the reunification table. At that point, identification was again verified and students were reunited and sent home with their parents. The cooperation of parents in the process was appreciated very much.

Nate Taggart, Weber School District's Spokesperson and Safety Specialist stated that it is everyone's hope that we never have to use this protocol, but emphasized the importance of being prepared for such an event. Overall, the process was very smooth and well executed with few issues. Many lessons were learned, and ideas for expediting evacuation and reunification were shared. Input received from law enforcement, parents, and school officials has been invaluable in helping us to streamline the process; however, the most important feedback we received was from the students themselves. The children felt protected and secure knowing that procedures were in place to ensure their safety. They even reported having a lot of fun watching movies and playing games while they waited for their parents to arrive. But perhaps most fun of all, they received their very own police escort!

    The Congressionally-mandated CyberTipline is a means for reporting crimes against children including:

    INHOPE Hotlines offer the public a way of anonymously reporting Internet material including child sexual abuse material they suspect to be illegal. The Hotline will ensure that the matter is investigated and if found to be illegal the information will be passed to the relevant Law Enforcement Agency and in many cases the Internet Service Provider hosting the content.

  • Utah Do Not Contact Registry

    Protect Your Family's Addresses

    The Utah Child Protection Registry is a free program provided by the State of Utah that helps you stop adult-oriented solicitations from being targeted at you and your family. The program allows you to protect:

    • E-Mail Addresses
    • Mobile Phone Numbers
    • Instant Messenger IDs
    • Fax Numbers

    Companies and marketers that send adult-oriented messages, such as those promoting pornography, alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, and gambling are required to screen their mailing lists with the State of Utah and remove registered addresses and numbers before they send their solicitations. Marketers that fail to remove registered addresses face felony charges as well as substantial civil and criminal fines.

Weber School District employees use AESOP for submitting leave requests and finding substitutes for classes. Teachers can fill out a list of preferred substitutes, and the system automatically finds and contacts the best matches for them.

Frequently Asked Questions


What's my login information?

Your Aesop login information is the same as your district login.  You will log in with your  e-mail address and password.  This is new as of Jun 27, 2019.

Do I need to create an absence on the Aesop system even if I don't need a sub?

Yes! The Aesop system is a sub finder but it also performs many other functions, one of which is absence tracking. Aesop is the sole source of information regarding absences. The ONLY exception is if you are taking Educational Leave (ie, attending a conference) and no substitute is needed.

How do I arrange for a sub when I prearrange an absence?

You can "Create an Absence" for your future absences on the Aesop system. Click "Yes" when asked if you need a sub then click "Save." Aesop will immediately notify your preferred subs and will open up to the general sub population 48 hours before the absence.

How do I arrange for a specific sub when I prearrange and absence?

You may have someone in mind to sub for you for a future absence. If that is the case YOU will need to notify the substitute before entering the absence into Aesop, confirm that they can work. Once the sub has agreed to fill your absence, you will create your absence on Aesop, select "yes" when asked if you need a sub. Next you will click the box "SAVE AND ASSIGN", which takes you to a screen to select the sub. Find the substitute and click "Assign" by their name. CAUTION! This option should ONLY be used if you have spoken to a substitute first and obtained confirmation that they will fill that job. Aesop WILL NOT notify the substitute for you and no reminders will be sent.

How can I create an absence if I don't have the internet at home?

You can call into Aesop at 1-800-942-3767 and use the same login information that you do on the computer. Logging an absence via the phone works the same as doing it on the computer, just follow the voice prompts.

How do I create a "preferred sub" list?

On your Aesop home page click "Preferred Sub List". Once there choose "Add New Substitutes". Click on the letter of the alphabet that corresponds with the first letter of the subs last name. Once you find your selected substitute make sure and click "On List" then "Apply Changes". When you view your current substitutes you will see the newly added sub.

A sub signed up for one of my absences but can't work. What should the sub do?

The substitute needs to sign into the Aesop web site and, using the interactive calendar, click on the day they wish to cancel. There will a picture of a trash can by the day of the absence, clicking on it will delete that day. Absences can be deleted up until 5am the morning of the absence, cancelling after 5am will involve contacting the school directly. Once a sub cancels an absence they will no longer see it as available so it should only be used if they are 100% sure they can't take the job.

How do I exclude someone from working in my classroom?

On your Aesop home page click "Preferred Sub List". Once there choose "Add New Substitutes". Click on the letter of the alphabet that corresponds with the first letter of the subs last name. Once you find your selected substitute make sure and click "On List" then click the button in the "Exclude" column then click "Apply Changes". You will see that substitute on your Preferred List with n/a by their name.

Can I use Full-Day if I'm not contracted 8 hours a day?

No! Full-Day translates to 8 hours. If you are an employee who does not work 8 hours a day, you will always need to customize your time to match your contracted shift.

How do I enter my start and end time for a sub?

In the "Create an Absence" screen under "Absence Type" enter the start and end times for your shift.

Can I leave notes or lesson plans for my sub?

Absolutely! Lesson plans need to be in PDF or Word format and can be uploaded from the final page after Creating an Absence. Once you get to the Modify Absence page you will find places to leave notes for Substitutes and your Administrator.

How can I get a list of substitutes and their phone numbers?

Teachers can see substitute phone numbers via a link on their Aesop home page. Administrators can get a file with sub phone numbers and other info by contacting Tanya at .

Wellness Incentive- Health Screening

Health Screening Information

Please note participation in a health screening is optional. 

Employees also have the option of participating in a health screening/ physical from their own physician.  A health screening/ physical that was completed between February 1, 2022- January 31, 2023 will be accepted.  Employees will need to have their physician sign the attached physician form.

Wellness Incentive

Employees who participate in a health screening, complete an online personal health assessment and select a primary care provider will be eligible for one of the following incentives:

Spouse Participation

*Please note- Spouse’s who are enrolled in Weber School District’s health insurance have the option of participating in the wellness incentive program. 


The spouse will receive their own $25 gift card by participating in a health screening.  The gift cards will be distributed by the schools in April.

Employees must complete a Health Screening by February 1, 2023 to be eligible for the Wellness incentive.  Wellness incentives will be included on the March 1, 2023 paycheck.


Q- Do I have to be enrolled in the district's health insurance to participate in the health screening and be eligible for the wellness incentive?

A- No, employees do not have to be enrolled in the district’s health insurance plan to participate.  However, employees must be eligible for health insurance.  Employees who work 6 hours or more are eligible for health insurance. 

Q- If I participate in a health screening through my doctor, when do I have to submit my physician form to Human Resources to receive the wellness incentive?

A- Physician forms need to be signed by the employee's doctor and submitted to Human Resources by February 1st, 2023 to be eligible for the Wellness incentive.  Human Resources will need the original physician form.

Q- Do I need to make an appointment to attend Weber School District’s health screening?

A- Yes, employees and spouses need to schedule an appointment to participate.

How do I qualify for a wellness incentive?

-To qualify for a wellness incentive an individual must participate in a health screening and complete the online health risk assessment through Select Health's wellness carrier Virgin Pulse.


There are 2 options for the health screening wellness incentive. Option #1 attend one of WSD's Health Screenings or Option #2 visit your physician for a health screening.  In order to qualify for the wellness incentive employees must participate in a health screening and complete a online health assessment through Select Health.

Due to the increase in COVID cases, WSD health screenings have moved to a virtual appointments through a phone call.  To schedule a virtual appointment with Select Health go to  The following is a tutorial video on how to create your Select Health account:

Visit your doctor for a physical.  Have your doctor complete the Physican Form and turn the form into Sue Mecham in Human Resources.  Human Resources will accept a physicial completed by your physician between February 1, 2021- January 31, 2022.  Please have your physician sign the following form:

E-volve is professional development training, provided by Weber School District Technical Services, delivered directly to small groups of teachers in their own schools.

During this high-impact training, lead instructors guide no more than 12 participants through a 90 minute hands-on course, while up to six Weber School District Techs sit side-by-side with participants to provide assistance.

Take advantage of this in-school training opportunity in just three easy steps.

Enrolling and Accessing the Internet Safety Courses

  1. Login to your District account via Gmail.
    1. For elementary, visit the Elementary Internet Safety course. Click Enroll
    2. For secondary, visit the Secondary Internet Safety course. Click Enroll
  2. To access the content after enrolling, visit Log into
  3. Familiarize yourself with this content before showing this to your students.
  4. When you are ready to show your students the CIPA training, read the content and navigate the course by clicking through the modules.
  5. When finished sharing the CIPA material with your students, you will need to use MyStudent to indicate your students have received the training.
