Competing in Chicago, Illinois among 12,000 students in over 70 categories, Weber High’s FBLA Chapter went with high expectations and came home with high awards from this summer’s National Conference.

Indiana Plant, a Weber High student brought home 1st Place and the title of National Champion in the Intro to Event Planning Event. Kyler Ferrin, a recent graduate earned 6th Place in Digital Video Productions and the Community Service Project presented by Raegan Rogers, Alyse Radle, and Indiana Plant took 3rd Place.

Congratulations to all of these students who are led by FBLA advisers Alan Rawlins, Kyle Stanger, and Angie Larsen who are also business/marketing instructors at Weber High.

Only two percent of FBLA students advance to the national level, so just getting there to compete is a great achievement. For students to make finals at Nationals in a presentation event they must be in the top 2 of their preliminary section out of 13-14 students or in the case of Indiana Plant she had to have at Top 15 test score to get to the role play round.

In the Community Service Project event there were 94 teams, while Digital Video Productions had 97 and Intro to Event Planning had 88 teams. Along with these five students, Weber High’s Partnership with Business team also made finals and Top 12, however, did not make Top 10. Sixteen other students besides these eight listed also attended the Nationals Conference in a variety of other events make a total of 24 total who attended the conference with their three advisers.

Weber High School’s Koby Pack takes 1st place at FBLA National Leadership Conference

Competing in San Antonio, Texas among 12,000 students in over 70 categories, Koby Pack, a Weber High student brought home 1st Place and the title of National Champion in the Sales Presentation Category.

Congratulations to Koby Pack led by Mr. Alan Rawlins, business/marketing instructor and FBLA advisor.

Although 105 individuals competed at the national leadership conference in the Sales Presentation event, it is not easy to get there or to get into finals. Only two percent of FBLA students advance to the national level, so just getting there to compete is a great achievement.  For students to make finals at Nationals they must be in the top 2 of their preliminary section out of 13-14 students.

Koby took first place at the State competition in March out of 28 individuals where he had to finish in the top two to advance to Nationals. Along with Koby, 12 other students from Weber High also attended Nationals in a variety of other events.

Weber High School is a 6A Utah secondary school with an enrollment of approximately 1800 students. Weber is located in Pleasant View, Utah about 5 miles north of Ogden,Utah. It serves the residents of Pleasant View, North Ogden, Harrisville, Huntsville, Eden, and Liberty. It is part of the Weber School District and includes grades 10-12. Weber offers 16 AP Courses and multiple concurrent enrollment courses.

The original location of Weber High School was between 11th and 12th Street on the east side of Washington Boulevard in Ogden (site of a Shopko store from the mid-1980's - 2010). In 1926, Weber County voters approved a $300,000 bond for a county high school by a vote of 733 to 480. Construction of the building began in 1926 and was completed in 1927. Educators held school in the building in the fall of 1926, although the school was still under construction. In 1953-54 the school expanded with the addition of a new south wing. When the current campus opened in Pleasant View, the old building remained, until demolished in the mid-1980s. Currently, Weber High School sits at the base of Ben Lomond Peak spreading across 70 acres. The campus has recently added a new softball complex to ensure all athletic fields are maintained on campus.
