Career and Technology Education (CTE) and Kimberly Clark teamed up to provide a great STEM experience at their manufacturing facility in Ogden. Students learned about manufacturing, problem solving, creativity, automation and robotics. Also discussed were employment opportunities in Manufacturing. We want to thank Kimberly Clark for the great learning experience.

This weekend we had the exhausting opportunity to take 51 of our Fremont FFA students to the State FFA convention in Cedar City for 3 days of leadership, learning and competition. We are proud of these kids and their accomplishments and wanted to let you know how they did. Many students competed. We also had 45 of our students help with a day of service in Cedar City, giving community service to our host city. The kids competing had to win at Chapter or Area and qualify to compete at State.
Proficiency-
We had several students who competed for State Level Proficiency awards. This is where they compete against all the other students with individual projects in their award area. We had one student win her State Proficiency area in Equine Science (that's horses for those of you who don't know). Only 1st place kids are ranked.
Roy High Chapter display received 1st place and will be competing at FFA Nationals in October.

COMING IN SCHOOL YEAR 2018-2019
To help combat the teaching shortage, we are creating a new pathway to “Grow our Own” teachers. Our program is part of the Education and Training Cluster. It is the K-12 Teaching as a Profession Pathway. The program is designed to offer students opportunities to explore careers in teaching, planning, managing and providing education and training related learning support services. It offers an in-depth view of the teaching profession and hands-on experience working in classroom with students. Our motto is #ProjectGrowOurOwn. The program focus is centered on student engagement, instructional strategies, and reflection on practices that are associated with teacher training in our local post-secondary schools. Through their experiences in their classes and in their internships, students gain first-hand knowledge of what it is like to be a teacher.
Learn more about yourself, how you learn and how human development influences learning. Explore careers in education including school counseling, teaching, media services, or other education professions. Learn about the past, present and future of education in the U.S. Create an electronic portfolio that will continue throughout the Education and Training pathway.
Experience and participate as you learn about the role and characteristics of an effective educator.
Observe and participate with teachers and students in the classroom. Learn about current teaching methods and instructional strategies. Explore assessments and when to use them. Discover how students learn and how to differentiate for special populations. Recognize ways to effectively use educational technology in the classroom.
Get hands on experience of how an educator uses coaching and leadership skills to successfully manage a classroom.
What is the role of an educator in the classroom? Find these answers and many more as you learn about instructional strategies. Learn and observe differentiated instruction and how it affects student learning. Create an environment where students are encouraged and empowered to become lifelong learners. Practice the art of creating instructional activities to inspire students to enjoy learning.
