Weber School District Career Technical Education Visits Kimberly Clark
Weber School District Career Technical Education (CTE) received a warm reception and gracious hospitality on a recent visit to Kimberly Clark.
Students had the opportunity to listen to various speakers from Kimberly Clark. The students now have a better idea of all the things that happens behind the scenes to make and produce diapers and other products made by Kimberly Clark. The information the speakers provided gave our students additional resources as they make decisions about their career choices.
One highlight from the event was when each speaker talked about what it took to work in their field, whether it was additional education or on-the-job training. It showed they never stop learning. Students also heard them talk about the passion they had for the job they were doing! This is something that all students need to hear and see in action. It was great to hear from people who love their careers or jobs, and make learning fun! Various speakers also talked about the need for collaboration, communication, and problem solving.

Weber School District is committed to ensuring a safe learning and working environment for all our students and employees. Title VI
If you believe your student has been discriminated against or harassed, you are encouraged to contact your building principal and/or the Student Services Director at Weber School District offices at (801) 476-7800.

If you believe your student has been discriminated against on the basis of sex, including gender identity and sexual orientation, in its educational programs and activities, or harassed in a manner that is creating a hostile environment for your student, you are directed to Policy 4120, paragraphs 1.5A through 1.5G which outlines procedures for filing a Title IX complaint.

K-12 Education and Training Pathway
COMING IN SCHOOL YEAR 2018-2019
K-12 Teaching as a Profession
To help combat the teaching shortage, we are creating a new pathway to “Grow our Own” teachers. Our program is part of the Education and Training Cluster. It is the K-12 Teaching as a Profession Pathway. The program is designed to offer students opportunities to explore careers in teaching, planning, managing and providing education and training related learning support services. It offers an in-depth view of the teaching profession and hands-on experience working in classroom with students. Our motto is #ProjectGrowOurOwn. The program focus is centered on student engagement, instructional strategies, and reflection on practices that are associated with teacher training in our local post-secondary schools. Through their experiences in their classes and in their internships, students gain first-hand knowledge of what it is like to be a teacher.
9th grade: Exploring Education (Fundamentals)
Learn more about yourself, how you learn and how human development influences learning. Explore careers in education including school counseling, teaching, media services, or other education professions. Learn about the past, present and future of education in the U.S. Create an electronic portfolio that will continue throughout the Education and Training pathway.
10th grade: Teaching As Profession I
Experience and participate as you learn about the role and characteristics of an effective educator.
Observe and participate with teachers and students in the classroom. Learn about current teaching methods and instructional strategies. Explore assessments and when to use them. Discover how students learn and how to differentiate for special populations. Recognize ways to effectively use educational technology in the classroom.
11th grade: Teaching as a Profession II
Get hands on experience of how an educator uses coaching and leadership skills to successfully manage a classroom.
What is the role of an educator in the classroom? Find these answers and many more as you learn about instructional strategies. Learn and observe differentiated instruction and how it affects student learning. Create an environment where students are encouraged and empowered to become lifelong learners. Practice the art of creating instructional activities to inspire students to enjoy learning.
12th grade: Teaching as a Profession III (Capstone)
