Furniture Design and Manufacturing

Description

The second instructional course in a sequence that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to prepare and execute furniture design projects; assemble and finish furniture articles; repair furniture; and stresses the safe use a variety of hand and power tools and machinery. Recommended projects would be anything that would allow students to incorporate all joints and tools e.g. a chest of drawers.

Prerequisite: Woodworking

Design and Visual Comunications

Description

This is a program in the applied visual arts that focuses on the general principles and techniques for effectively communicating ideas and information, and packaging products, in digital and other formats to business and consumer audiences, and that may prepare individuals in any of the applied art media.

Pro Start II

Description

Students will continue to be trained for employment in restaurants. The basic skills taught in ProStart I will be reviewed and additional skills such as customer relations, accounting procedures, and more advanced food preparation skills will be taught. FCCLA may be an integral part of this course.

Pro Start I

Description

This basic course from the National Restaurant Association introduces students into the world of professional cooking. Basic communication skills, safety and sanitation, food preparation, meal planning, and other topics are taught in this beginning course. FCCLA may be an integral part of this course.

Criminal Justice Magnet

Description

This course prepares individuals to perform the duties of police and public security officers, including patrol and investigative activities, traffic control, crowd control, public relations, witness interviewing, evidence collection and management, court procedures and the law in general. Basic crime prevention methods, weapon and equipment operation, equipment maintenance, and other routine law enforcement responsibilities are also included.

This course is for those students interested in law enforcement careers or students desiring General Education credit at Weber State.

Interior Design II

Description

This course provides students the opportunity to develop skills in applying the elements and principles of design to interiors.
