Note: The more specific and narrow the request, the easier it will be for an agency or office to respond to the request. If you are unsure about the records’ description, contact the agency or office records officer.

Note: Government keeps records in “series” or groups of records. To find out what series an agency or office maintains, visit the Archives’ website, http://archives.utah.gov. The record series retention schedules on the Archives’ website include relevant descriptions.

West Weber Elementary is located in western Weber Country and is part of the Fremont High School cone. In addition to providing comprehensive, core curriculum-based learning to students in kindergarten through 6th grade, we also provide differentiated instruction and special education services, including services to students with severe needs in our functional life skills classroom. Currently there are approximately 520 students enrolled at West Weber with 21 teachers and 31 members of support staff.

The original West Weber Elementary was built in 1928. The beautiful, new school we are now in was constructed in 2015 on the same land where the original building stood. However, it is still nice to look out the back windows at cornfields and Clydesdale Horses in the pastures behind the school.

West Weber has the largest geographic boundaries of all the elementary schools in Weber District. Nearly all of the students are bussed to and from the school. Many of the students that attend West Weber are 4th and even some are 5th generation students whose parents, grandparents and even great grandparents have attended the school.

West Weber Elementary has an active school choir, a peer leader program, Robotics club, and a girls running club.  We also have an active PTA and Community Council that provide valuable support and resources to ensure a positive learning experience for all students.

West Haven Elementary (WHE) is located in West Haven at 4385 South 3900 West. The school sits in a growing rural area west of Roy City. West Haven Elementary is named after the city it is located in. Our mascot is the “Hawk” due to the fact that they frequently fly overhead. The “Hawk” reminds us to “Soar High” in all of our endeavors.

WHE is one of the newer Schools in the Weber School District. After its completion in 2004 it had an enrollment of about 500. Currently there are 680 students and 30 teachers. Our students will attend Sandridge Jr. High and Roy High School.

WHE is also the meeting place for a high school class, Education 1010. The students in the class are seriously considering education centered careers and will receive college credit. This is a mutualistic relationship where students learn hands on, and teachers receive much needed help with various tasks in their classrooms.

The Mission of West Haven Elementary is to ensure that all who pass through our doors will develop a sense of Belonging, Mastery, Independence, and Generosity. West Haven Elementary has an “Open” Door policy and encourages parents to get involved with the PTA and to volunteer at the school.

Washington Terrace is a Title One school with an enrollment of approximately 500 students. It is located in Washington Terrace in South Ogden, Utah and serves the students in Washington Terrace and South Riverdale. WTE is part of Weber School District and includes grades K-6. WTE also partners with YMCA to provide after school activities for the students throughout the school year and during the summer.

Washington Terrace began as the clouds of war gathered on the shores of the United States in 1940, and the government rushed to completion numerous Army, Navy, and Air Force installations in various parts of the country. To provide sufficient labor to work in these installations, recruiting teams were sent throughout the U.S. to hire workers. To insure necessary housing for these people who were uprooted from their own homes, a program of constructing large housing projects was instituted by the Federal Government. Thus Washington Terrace Housing Project came into being in 1942-43, three miles south of Ogden City on 283 acres of sand on the terraced hills just west of Washington Boulevard giving the name of Washington Terrace to the 1400 two-bedroom family homes.

The first school began in Washington Terrace on October 11, 1943, with 665 pupils and 17 teachers. There were six grades crowded into nine double dwelling-family unit houses with improvised furniture supplied by Hill Air Force Base for the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. Benches and tables were constructed for the first, second, and third grade students.

The sixteen-room school building was completed in the 1945. Fifty years later in 1996 a new building was constructed on the city park southwest of the old school. Following the dedication of the new building the old school was torn down and made into a beautiful new city park with walking trails.

We are the Roosevelt Raptors located in Washington Terrace in South Ogden, Utah.  Roosevelt Elementary, named after Franklin Delano Roosevelt, first opened as a six room school with 204 students on September 9, 1957. The school was built to relieve over crowded Washington Terrace Elementary. In 1958 eight more rooms were added and we have continued to grow.

As a Title One school we provide lower class sizes and offer extended day kindergarten. This helps us provide additional academic support with our highly qualified staff and current technology. We currently have approximately 540 students and 50 staff members.

Our school motto is: “Raptors United Are . . . Respectful, Always Caring, Positive, Trustworthy, Open, Honest & Fair, Responsible and Safe Citizens. We believe that every child should be preparing to go to college.
