At Roy High School, Poinsettias Teach Students About Agriculture as Well as Community Service.
Roy High School’s FFA Chapter Officers delivered poinsettias to the patients at Heritage Park Care Center in Roy on Thursday, December 10.
With a community focus, the students were happy to extend joy and holiday cheer to patients in their own neighborhoods, but this gift meant a little bit more because they were sharing mature poinsettias they had raised from seed since the beginning of the semester.
Students in Roy High’s Agricultural Department have been very busy all season growing, watering, and caring for the plants in their own greenhouse, which is situated on campus. With all the student hours put into growing the poinsettias, there is no doubt they were delivered to the care center with love.
The poinsettias have been placed around the facility adding to the holiday spirit for the patients and making a show of appreciation for the staff who are caring for individuals there.
Each year the Royal FFA greenhouse grows poinsettias as part of the agricultural class offerings to students, and then the plants are sold to the community at the end of November. Proceeds fund more agricultural learning opportunities for students. Find out more on their Facebook page @royalffagreenhouse.

Tiny Homes!
The Construction Magnet class at Weber Innovation High School is building "Tiny Homes". Students are building structural walls, flooring, roofing, and exterior finishing...Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and cabinetry, sheetrock, mudding/taping painting and finish work are part of the course as well.
