What is Blocksi?
Blocksi is a screen monitoring software and K-12 web filter. This powerful, cloud-based solution empowers parents, teachers, and administrators. At its core, it gives greater control of a child’s online content. Weber School District uses Blocksi as one tool to filter websites, social media, and YouTube to meet K-12 educational guidelines and demands.
What is the Blocksi Parent Dashboard?
The Parent Dashboard allows parents to enforce filtering policies when the Chromebook or the Chrome client is outside of school. Parents can block specific sites, and view their child's school and home online analytics on the Parent Dashboard. Please note that parent restrictions are only valid when your student is NOT in school.
How do I Access the Parent Dashboard?
There are two ways to access the Parent Dashboard- by using a browser such as Google Chrome or Safari or by downloading the Blocksi App.
Navigating Blocksi on the Web (Using a desktop or laptop)
To access the Blocksi Parent Dashboard using a browser like Google Chrome or Safari on a desktop or laptop computer, follow these steps:
Go to www.blocksi.net
In the upper right corner click the down arrow and select “Parent or Guardian”

From this screen sign into your Parent Dashboard account or create a new one using the same email address that you use to log into PowerSchool. If you use a different email address, your students will not show up in the app.

What can I see on the Parent Dashboard?
The first thing you will see when you log in on a browser is the Parent Dashboard. From the dashboard, you can create exception lists, add time control, look at insights and reports, and see an overview of what your student is doing online. The 3 lines at the top will open and close the menu bar.

What are Access Time Controls?
Access Time Controls give you as a parent control over when your child can access the internet.
To set these times create a Time Control, by clicking on “Access Time Control” in the left-hand menu.

To add a new Access Time Control, enter the new list name first and then click the + sign. The new list will be added. Next, click the pencil to edit the list.

Set the time control as you see fit for your student.
The Access Time Controls are in military time. Example: 23:00 is 11:00 PM.

Save your changes and then activate this control on the Parent Dashboard.

What is an Exception List?
An Exception List is where you as a parent can block sites and URLs in addition to what is already being blocked by Weber School District during non-school hours.
To create or edit an Exception List, click on “Exception List” in left-hand menu bar.

This will bring up the Exception Lists you have already created and a place for you to add new lists.

To add a new list, enter the new list name first and then click the + sign. The new list will be added.
Next, click the pencil to edit the list.

After clicking the pencil you will be able to add URLs you do not want your student to use during non-school hours. As the red bar indicates, WSD does not allow parents to allow sites blocked by district filters.

Once you have created your Exception Lists, activate this control on the Parent Dashboard. You can apply the controls to all students or an individual student.

How Can I Pause the Internet for my child?
You can pause the internet for your child while he/she is not at school using the “Pause Internet” toggle switch on the Dashboard.

What are Insights?
Insights give parents an overview of the websites their child is accessing and allow for an export of this information.

To see a specific time period, use the clock icon in the top right corner.

What are Reports?
Parents can create Web Activity reports that generate daily, weekly, and monthly. These reports include the following information:
Filters used to generate the report
Report time
Allowed, blocked, and sites that required a warning for each organizational unit
Breakdown of each category, including most visited URLs
Most active users and the number of hits for each
Most blocked users and the number of hits for each
To create or edit a Report, click on “Reports” in left-hand menu bar.

This will bring up the Reports you have already created and a place for you to add new Reports. Here automated reports can also be toggled on.

Blocksi App
In the Play Store or Apple App Store, parents can download the Blocksi Parent app.

The app opens to the Parent Dashboard. From here you can enable and create Access Time Controls. Access Time Controls give you as a parent control over when your child can access the internet. Click the pencil to edit the Access Time Control schedule.

From the Dashboard parents can also create and manage an Exception List. An Exception List is where you as a parent can block sites and URLs in addition to what is already being blocked by Weber School District during non-school hours. Click the 🚫icon to edit the lists.

There is also a toggle to pause internet while your child is not at school.

You will also see the allowed and blocked URLs listed in two places. Remember, parent restrictions are only valid when your student is NOT in school.

By clicking on the arrow, you will see the allowed or blocked sites. The range for this is today, last 24 hours, last 7 days, last 30 days, last 90 days, or last 6 months.

By clicking on the three bars at the top of the Dashboard, you will see the toolbar.
