2025-26 Kindergarten Registration
Weber School District is excited to welcome new Kindergarteners to our schools for the 2025-2026 school year. We know that the transition to kindergarten is a significant milestone for both students and families. Our dedicated teams are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment to ensure a positive start to your child’s academic journey.
We are excited to offer a full-day kindergarten option to all our students as well as a half-day option to accommodate the needs of our families. Here is a brief overview of each program.
Full-day kindergarten: Students attending full-day kindergarten will follow a schedule equivalent to the other grades in the school. They will receive comprehensive instruction on the state-approved standards in all content areas, including the arts, PE, and library.
Half-day kindergarten: Students attending either a half-day kindergarten class or a half-day kindergarten option within a full-day kindergarten class will attend school for part of the day as determined by individual schools and will receive instruction that prioritizes the state-approved standards for the content areas of English language arts and mathematics as required by R277-730. Please note that midday transportation will not be provided for those attending half-day kindergarten options.
There are 5 steps to registering for Kindergarten
Step 1: Review the Kindergarten Entrance Requirements. To be eligible for Kindergarten entrance for the 2025-2026 school year, a child must be five years old before September 2, 2025 as mandated by Utah Code 53G-4-402.
A school may enroll a child in kindergarten who does not meet the age requirement described if the child meets the following two criteria:
(1) moves to Utah from a different state in which the child, during the relevant school year:
(A) was a resident, and
(B) was enrolled in kindergarten in accordance with the previous state's age requirements for
kindergarten enrollment;
(2) transfers to the enrolling school after the beginning of the same school year.
In accordance with the updated Utah Code 53G-7-203, students are now also required to be toilet-trained before being enrolled in kindergarten.
Step 2: Complete Pre-registration. Pre-registration can be completed as early as February 1, 2025, but no later than February 28, 2025. Simply fill out the online Pre-registration Form or visit your boundary school to request a paper copy.
Step 3: Provide Required Entrance Documents.
The following documents are required and must be submitted to the school. A child can not start school until these documents are submitted. Parents can bring these documents to the school soon after completing the Pre-registration in Step 2 or may bring them to the in-person Orientation session mentioned in Step 4.
Parent or Guardian Driver's License or state-issued identification card- Only a parent or guardian can register a student
Student's Birth Certificate bearing a seal- This must be an original document or a certified copy. Birth certificates are used to verify that a student meets the age requirements. Weber School District may accept alternate documents for age verification. Please work directly with your child's boundary school if this accommodation is needed.
