Grief & Loss

Center For Grieving Children

A Center For Grieving Children is a support center for children who are grieving the loss of someone they love because of divorce or separation in the family or because of the death of a loved one. We also have support groups for children in foster care. The Center is the primary program of the Family Summit Foundation. It is a non-profit organization that serves nearly 800 individuals a year. There is no cost to the families that use our services. We are funded through foundations, organizations and private individuals; we do not receive government funding.

Housing/Homelessness

Lantern House Logo

Lantern House exists to aid the poor, needy, and homeless by providing them food, shelter, and critical emergency services. We provide a hand up rather than a hand out. Our goal is to transition residents from shelter to housing; encouraging their sense of independence, self-sufficiency, and self-confidence. We are committed to carry out this mission while treating those who come to us with compassion, dignity, and respect.

We provide 24/7 services to individuals and families experiencing a housing or food crisis.

Family Promise of Ogden

Family Promise recognizes that family homelessness and poverty are complex issues that require comprehensive, innovative solutions. Solving homelessness is not just about housing. Our holistic approach to the crisis of family homelessness includes three key areas of focus: prevention, shelter, and stabilization.

Our families use our day center, from 7:30am to 5:00pm to shower, do laundry, care for pre-school children, and seek employment. FPO provides a case manager to work with the families to develop a personalized plan based upon their specific needs and connects them to the services needed to achieve their goals, which may include financial services, health care, education and job skills training, day care and youth development programs and assisting them to obtain employment and independent housing.

Substance Abuse

Parents Empowered Logo

Parents Empowered is a statewide media and community education campaign with the goal to have every Utah child reach the age of 21 alcohol-free so they can enjoy the benefits of a healthy brain. Because parents play a fundamental role in protecting kids’ healthy brains, the campaign is directed to parents, who are the number one reason kids don’t drink. Research also shows kids are less likely to drink when parents are actively involved in their lives and communicate their strong disapproval of drinking before the age of 21. Funded by the Utah Legislature, the community-based initiative provides parents and caregivers with information about the harmful effects of alcohol on the developing adolescent brain, along with research-based parenting skills to help prevent underage drinking.
