At Fremont, Ag Mech classes built Chicken Coops... the ag department is raising chicks and they are going to sell these coops COMPLETE with the chickens in them. A one stop shop. Great project and great idea.
Many of you have industry partners that donate time, guest speak, and have resources that they share with our programs. Industry involvement in our classes is a critical piece to effective pathways, adding relevance and engagement to the student experience. In the case of the pickup, it also helped with a needed resource.
Mrs Krauss's Engineering Design and Development class (The Engineering Capstone Course) at Weber Innovation High, met with 13 business partners from Elkay, Autoliv, and JR Automation (Setpoint) The business partners were presenting their “job assignment” or “engineering problem” that the students will work on for the next 6 weeks. The students will collaborate with an engineer from that company then present back the solutions to the business partners. WSD is so appreciative to those on our Advisory Committees who promote learning and enhance curriculum.
WSD high school, jr high, and elementary counselors and school administrators visited a few of our great business partners in the BDO. Stops were made at Honeyville, ReadyLift, and Hydro Jug. These businesses gave great information on employment opportunities for students. What soft and Hard skills we can prepare the students with to help them meet the high demand jobs in manufacturing.
