Dual language immersion is a 50/50 instructional model in which students spend half their day learning in English and the other half learning in Spanish or Chinese. Through developmentally appropriate curriculum, students naturally pick up the language as they learn other subjects. The program is based on the total language learning approach incorporating content-based instruction and explicit language instruction. Our goal is that our immersion students will become bi-literate and bilingual.
Within Weber School District there are four language immersion programs. A separate application is required for each program. If you would like more information about a specific program, you are welcome and encouraged to attend an informational meeting hosted by the school principal and a school district representative. Only students entering 1st grade during the 2021-2022 school year are eligible to apply. All applications are due March 26, 2021 by 11:59 pm.

Professor Word is a service that can help students learn new SAT and ACT vocabulary words. Professor Word operates as a browser bookmarklet in Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari. When you're reading a web page, click on the Professor Word bookmarklet to quickly identify SAT and ACT vocabulary words on that page. You can also use Professor Word to get definitions for any unfamiliar word on a webpage. To get a definition just highlight the word a small dialogue box containing the definition will appear.
Knoword is a fun and challenging game that tests your ability to match definitions to words. You're presented with the first letter of a word, its part of speech, and the definition. You then have to fill in the correct spelling of the word. If you enter the correct word, you earn points. If you don't get it right, you lose points. Signing up lets you track your points and earn badges based on your performance.
