K-12 Education and Training Pathway

K-12 Teaching as a Profession

To help combat the teaching shortage, we are creating a new pathway to “Grow our Own” teachers. Our program is part of the Education and Training Cluster. It is the K-12 Teaching as a Profession Pathway. The program is designed to offer students opportunities to explore careers in teaching, planning, managing and providing education and training related learning support services. It offers an in-depth view of the teaching profession and hands-on experience working in classroom with students. Our motto is #ProjectGrowOurOwn. The program focus is centered on student engagement, instructional strategies, and reflection on practices that are associated with teacher training in our local post-secondary schools. Through their experiences in their classes and in their internships, students gain first-hand knowledge of what it is like to be a teacher.

Discover how students learn and how to differentiate for special populations. Recognize ways to effectively use educational technology in the classroom.

11th grade: Teaching as a Profession II

What is the role of an educator in the classroom? Find these answers and many more as you learn about instructional strategies.  Learn and observe differentiated instruction and how it affects student learning.
