Days for Girls Hygiene Packets

North Ogden Jr High and Janet Weavers FACS classes have an on going service project. The students and the community helped in making kits. They have made bags, shields and liners for the Days for Girls organization. These kits are to help girls in 3rd world countries have "more Days in school" as many of them can not afford or have access to disposable feminine hygiene items to take care of their monthly cycle and are not able to attend school during that time otherwise. Last summer these kits (230) were delivered to Thailand. They were delivered to 2 schools in Chang Rai.

On a side note I have never felt so good about being a teacher. In Thailand everyone has a very high respect for teachers, They are looked up to more than even doctors or lawyers or honestly any job. The reactions I got from people when they found out I was a "teacher" was overwhelming.

Nestled at the base of beautiful Ben Lomond is North Ogden Junior High.  In 2008, NOJH celebrated its 40th year.  North Ogden Junior High is a school rich in tradition.  Built in 1968, the knight was selected as our mascot, with royal colors of purple and gold.  A true knight in shining armor, hand honed in England and donated to the school by William Dodson family, stands at the main door to greet all guests to our school.

North Ogden Junior High, located in North Ogden, Utah is part of the Weber School District and includes grades 7-9.  Our current enrollment is approximately 675 students, 34 members of our faculty and 24 staff members.

Our school is known for its excellent students, teachers, and staff.  A few of the outstanding courses offered here include: Project Lead the Way, level II foreign languages, biology and physics, beginning guitar and musical theater. NOJH has received the “National Schools of Character Promising Practices” award for the past two years.  This reflects our school community’s focus on the Knight Code of Conduct, character education and recognition of exemplary behavior.

North Ogden Junior High students and staff believe in service.  We provide service to fellow students, our community, and sometimes the world.  In keeping with our spirit of service, 2011 marked the beginning of what we hope to be a tradition with our Earth Day service project.  All the students, faculty and staff (approximately 2500 service hours accumulated) worked throughout the community by cleaning parks, schools, and this year several hundred sand bags were filled.  Where there is a need, NOJH will be there ready to lend a helping hand.
