Rae Ann Christensen

In a career, if you’ve had the pleasure of working with the likes of Rae Ann Christensen, even for a short time, you will have been truly blessed. Rae Ann is the hardworking, tender-hearted head secretary at Roy High School, and from my perspective, she is THE BEST classified employee I have ever worked with, and she is an even better human being.

No one embodies Royal Pride like Rae Ann Christensen. She kindly and adeptly cares for the teachers, staff, parents, and students of RHS­-ensuring that no one is viewed or treated as a burden. Others’ concerns become Rae Ann’s and she shows great patience and empathy as she assists and offers support. Rae Ann has shined for many years at Roy High, but during this especially challenging year, her leadership and initiative have been immensely helpful and inspiring. During our recent “bomb scare,” and the ensuing media chaos that followed, Rae Ann “led out” in the front office. I never had to worry if concerned parents, staff or students would be handled effectively during this crisis. Rae Ann is the lovely “woman in front” and she is simply a champion. If she says everything is okay, people believe her. Rae Ann is trusted immediately by those with whom she comes in contact. She listened to a myriad of parents (in person and via phone), worried that their child would not be safe at school- and each one went away from the conversation confident in the crisis response efforts of all at Roy High School. Rae Ann kept her cool, mentored her fellow secretaries throughout the stressful days and weeks associated with this unfortunate event, exhibited great poise and integrity, and I observed a real leader at work.

Rae Ann Christensen goes the extra mile. Not for the attention this type of effort garners, but because it is the right thing to do. She stays “in tune” with the administration and seems to innately sense what type of assistance we may need, on a daily basis, and in complicated situations we face. When we host various meetings or events at Roy High, no one out does Rae Ann in terms of the treats provided or the manner in which they are served. She has the uncanny ability to make others feel loved and incredibly validated. It goes without saying that Rae Ann is a difficult one to push out of the office each day. She dedicates countless extra hours to the cause – namely because she puts people first, and tasks she must accomplish, second. The tasks always get done, and in quality fashion. Rae Ann is humble, gracious, wears her heart on her sleeve, and simply is the glue that holds us all together. Roy High is a warm and inviting place due to the tireless efforts and expertise demonstrated by Rae Ann Christensen.

I realize there are many amazing candidates considered each year to be worthy recipients of this prestigious award. Great individuals labor in all of our schools. From the deepest place in my heart, I convey my love, admiration, and gratitude to/for sweet Rae Ann Christensen. She is an angel walking around this oftentimes crazy world, and she ensures that all will be okay and well. She has a gift and I feel she is mightily deserving of the Classified Employee of the Year Award in Weber School District.
